Island Murter – the island of amazing variety of nature, beautiful, sandy and stone beaches, the cultural center since Roman times marked with numerous historical heritage, traditions many years tourism, hospitality and diligence of the island’s population. Island Murter belongs to the group northern Dalmatian islands and is the largest island in the Sibenik archipelago. It is separated from the mainland by narrow sea channel, which in some places only 6m wide. In Tisno Murter is with the mainland by movable bridge back in 1832 g.
The island is located near main Dalmatian towns: Šibenik 28 km, Zadar 56 km and Split 100 km. Only 40 km away from the island Murter is one more natural landmark – National Park Krka. Krka National Park is known for its waterfalls Skradinski Buk, Roski and Visovac Island.
On the island are four small town: Murter, Betina, Tisno and Jezera. The inhabitants of the island have long engaged in fishing, farming, livestock, shipbuilding, and lately more and tourism. The most widespread culture on the island are olives and figs.
